European Lighting Educators Forum

European cooperation could enable great possibilities to all of us. In order to establish a network of lighting educators in Europe everybody belonging to this group was invited to the European Lighting Educators Forum at LUX Europa on September, 21 in 2022. The idea is to encourage European cooperation in lighting, for example by the exchange of students including PHD-students and teaching staff or joint European research projects. The Forum is open to everybody teaching lighting, a membership in a lighting society is not required.

The idea was born on a lighting educators meeting of the German speaking countries where people from universities and other educational institutions have already met for several years. These meetings take place next to one of the larger lighting conferences and are typically attended by about 50 lighting educators from different disciplines with the goal to exchange information on current topics and to carry out projects together. The German textbook “Beleuchtungstechnik-Grundlagen”, written by a team of 25 lighting experts and published by Huss Medien in 2020 is one of the outcomes, the English translation is on its way.
